Learn more about Mama Let Me Live

“Mama, let me live!” these are the words of little Lucas when he’s only 5 weeks old in the womb of his mother Emma, an unplanned pregnant mother. She’s 17 years old. Lucas doesn’t only beg for his life when Emma considers getting an abortion. He shows her his personality, tells her what he will be when he grows up, and judges the character of other people she meets. He’s feisty, funny, and charming all at the same time.

Mama, Let Me Live! and the companion Handbook together equip every reader with a plan of what to do to get started on the path to making a difference in saving unborn babies and supporting women every step of the way.

A story about life.

Author Gary Montour, Ed.D. used his extensive knowledge about raising 4 adopted children and many other experiences as a male mentor at Pro-Life clinics to provide insight into many areas of his book. He and his wife Rita adopted 4 children at birth. 3 of their children are in their 30's while the grandson they are raising is 18. Gary worked closely with his editor, Donna Schwontkowski, who added substantial insight from both a female perspective and one who personally traveled an unplanned pregnant mom’s journey many years ago.

About the Author

"This book "Mama Let Me Live" is one of the most inspirational stories I have ever come across. The story is about a young girl called Emma who got pregnant and found it hard to share the news with her parents not knowing their reaction to it, but later on she gains the confidence to tell them about it. Her parents were not happy with the news and suggested that she gets an abortion or find elsewhere to live. Emma visited an abortion clinic but wouldn't abort her child after hearing other people's experiences and effects of abortion, she could also hear her child's soul telling her to let him live.

This story reminds me of young girls who have experienced what Emma went through and some choose to keep their babies while some opted for an abortion. Emma's story is a very interesting and inspiring story because it educates us about the important of holding on to what we believe in, listening to our inner voices or voices of our loved ones (just like Emma listened to Lucas) and also we get to learn about effects of abortion in the book.

The days aren't the same, people go through ups and downs, tough days and smooth days but help comes at the right time when we least expect, I would rate this book 9.5/10 because of the impact it's going to bring on other people. It is a life-changing story!

The handbook is easy to understand and detailed. It’s educational and inspiring."

"An extremely powerful story of a young girl, who unexpectedly had to stop thinking about her future in college and the common issues of being 17 years of age, and shift to having to take a stand against the world, having to make a decision between choosing to listen to the outer voices that included her family, boyfriend, the mentality of the society and the inner voice, that sweet but powerful voice of her yet unborn child , which was more than a real voice itself. That voice I considered it to be the manifestation of conscience of the self, full of purity, full of truth.

The meeting in the book deeply touched me-it was the one for the Post-Abortion Counseling Session. My heart was broken! I could feel so much empathy reading the women’s stories of pain, depression, suicidal thoughts, regrets, detachment, avoidance, PTSD after they had an abortion. As a mother of two, I felt as if I was actually part of that group, even though I had never experienced myself what happened to them. It emotionally shocked me!”

My personal view, greatly inspired by reading this book, is that the natural way of experiencing life is by being given a chance to live regardless the parents age, economy, mentality pressure. No life should stop at the womb because of ARBITRARY reasons. I find it difficult after finishing the book to think otherwise. I just needed this."

“I just finished Mama, Let Me Live! :) I really enjoyed it a lot. The topic that is covered is a really important one and I like how the author dealt with it in a simple way where everyone could understand. The story touches everyone. It even made me think of things and people in my life. I also love the way how he showed the different people that can be in a person's circle of trust. When a lady is in a situation like Emma is, she must have all the support she can find or else lots of wrong decisions can be made, leading to guilt and regret.”

“I'm absolutely loving it! I've laughed and cried so much. I am truly enjoying the story. I did love watching Lucas develop his own voice from the beginning of the book to the end, especially as he became more vocal about wanting to live. I 100% agree with the message, I was initially just a bit apprehensive about the message coming entirely from a man. I also love reading studies and reviews so that I can become more informed. You hit the perfect depth with the handbook. It's not going to scare anyone off, but it is blunt about the facts (which is a good thing). I will not forget this book. I typically steer away from Christian fiction/anything along those lines because it's often so sappy, but you hit the perfect balance.”

- Katherine

“The handbook is very clearly laid out. I love the organization and use of headers throughout. I think that the integration of questions is really helpful and makes the reader have to think about his/her own next steps. I love how the book refers to Emma's baby as Lucas. He is a real person, even before he is born, and this really highlights his personhood!”

“In the story, Chapter 1 Instagram quote made me tear up! It reminds the reader of the absolute JOY of pregnancy! The book is full of such practical advice when first finding out about an unplanned pregnancy. I never knew there was such a thing as maternity group homes! This is such valuable information on a resource I didn’t even know existed.”
